Australian Gastroenterology Week is back this September for a very special 2025 edition- World Congress of Gastroenterology @ Australian Gastroenterology Week 2025 (WCOG @ AGW25)– co-hosting the event with the World Congress of Gastroenterology. It will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) from 19 September to 22 September 2025.
The Scientific Programme covers all aspects of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and features over 20 expert international speakers. “This confluence of World Congress of Gastroenterology and Australian Gastroenterology Week occurs once in a generation, and provides a unique opportunity to attend an outstanding International Gastroenterology meeting” states Prof. Alex Boussioutas (President GESA) and Prof. Geoffrey Metz AO (President WGO) in their invitation.
The Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA), who organise AGW annually, are the peak membership organisation for Australian healthcare professionals and researchers working in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology. They aim to ensure the highest standards are set when it comes to research, education, clinical practise and patient-care.
The World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO) is a federation of 119 Member Societies and four Regional Associations of gastroenterology representing over 60,000 individual members worldwide. This organisation focuses on the improvement of standards in training, education, and the practice of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and other related disciplines worldwide. They also host the biennial World Congress of Gastroenterology (WCOG).
