Neurogut 2026 Conference

NeuroGut 2026 was Singapore’s flagship meeting dedicated to neurogastroenterology, gastrointestinal motility, and Disorders of Gut–Brain Interaction (DGBI).

Held in one of Asia’s leading medical and academic hubs, the meeting brought together international experts, regional leaders, and front-line clinicians for two days of high-impact education, clinical reasoning, and scientific exchange.

Representing the CRE-TGH, Professor Gerald Holtmann and Dr Ayesha Shah attended the conference, as well as University of Newcastle researcher Dr Georgina Williams.

Prof. Holtmann co-chaired the Joint Final Session: “Views from Asia-Pacific” with Andrew Chua on the first day and Seiji Futagami on the second- with Dr Shah presenting her work on “ANMA – Gaps in Symptom-based Categorisation of DGBI” in both sessions. Prof. Holtmann also shared his expertise in the session “Functional Dyspepsia Beyond Acid” with “FD is not just FD”. Dr Williams presented in the session “Diet in DGBI” with “Gluten, Wheat or FODMAP”.

Discussing the conference, Dr Williams said “It was a fantastic opportunity to dive into the latest research on disorders of gut–brain interaction: from the influence of the microbiome to the role of GI specialist psychology and evolving diagnostic criteria.

Her key takeaway from the varied presentations was that gastrointestinal specialist dietitians are essential in managing conditions with a gut–brain axis component, including IBS, functional dyspepsia, gastroparesis, PoTS, and Ehlers–Danlos syndrome.

Thank you to NeuroGut  for a fantastic 2026 meeting, and we look forward to the next edition.
