Professor Nick Talley Sabbatical Updates

Professor Nick Talley continues his overseas sabbatical with exciting updates and opportunities to explore international collaboration and strengthen existing research relationships.
Professor Talley was appointed a Visiting Professor at Imperial College London,  based at the Hammersmith Hospital in the Commonwealth Building. Professor Nick Powell  is hosting Talley in his research group; with some exciting new research projects planned.
He visited the Imperial College Library, and states that “It was very gratifying to find two of my textbooks on the shelf: Talley and O’Connor’s Clinical Examination 9th edition and Clinical OSCEs. The librarian was very helpful and on learning of the 10th edition even offered to order it. Thank you to all who have contributed to these textbooks.”
He also attended the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) Linacre Lecture, AGM and dinner, “a wonderful event where I re-connected with many very distinguished colleagues and friends”.
While in London, he met with friend and distinguished colleague Professor Richard Hunt, a giant in H. pylori and gastric acid research.
He spent some time in Uppsala, Sweden with the research team. Speaking about outcomes from the visit, he says “We have novel long-term follow-up data on our population-based endoscopy cohorts, and we planned 20 plus new papers based on the new data available. Very exciting. Research rocks! Thank you to my colleagues and friends in Sweden.”
Recently, he started his visit to Leuven teaching a class of exceptional medical students selected from around Europe with colleague Professor Tim Vanuytsel.
We look forward to sharing more of Professor Talleys’ news from his sabbatical, and highlighting more of the significant research and technological advancements that are being undertaken, and the opportunities for international collaboration and teaching.
