Presentation By Professor Tim Vanuytsel, MD PhD

The Centre of Research Excellence, Transforming Gut Heath (CRETGH), is excited to announce an upcoming presentation by International Visiting Academic Professor Tim Vanuytsel, MD PhD.

He will be presenting “Novel concepts in the origin of disorders of gut-brain interaction” on Friday 7th November 2025 at 12 Noon. The presentation will be held at HMRI, Caves Theatre, and will be open and free to all HMRI staff and researchers.

“Disorders of gut-brain interaction—such as irritable bowel syndrome and functional dyspepsia—are highly prevalent and profoundly affect quality of life. Yet, therapeutic outcomes remain suboptimal, largely due to gaps in our understanding of their complex pathophysiology. Recent advances in neuroimmune signaling, gut barrier integrity, and microbiome-host interactions are reshaping our conceptual framework of these conditions. These emerging insights not only challenge traditional paradigms but also open promising avenues for targeted, mechanism-based interventions.”

Professor Tim Vanuytsel will be visiting The Centre of Research Excellence, Transforming Gut Heath (CRETGH)  from November 3rd to 7th 2025, and he will also be presenting at AGIRA Day at HMRI on Wednesday November 5th.

We look forward to attending his presentations, and look forward to these opportunities to share knowledge and learn from one of the leading global experts in the field!
